      Taiwan is a fantastic place to live and work. Here, along with your employment, you can also explore its alluring national parks and incredible scenery. The people of Taiwan are amicable and warm. If you want to work in Taiwan, you must have three essential documents.

      1. Taiwan Work Visa

      How to get a Taiwan Work Visa?

      If you want to work in Taiwan, you need to apply for a Taiwan Work Visa. It is a type of Taiwan Resident Visa, and it will allow you to enter the state for employment purposes. Before applying for a work visa, you must have a job in Taiwan.

      After getting a job in Taiwan, you also need to get a Taiwan Work Permit which will allow you to work in the state legally. Your employer in Taiwan needs to apply for a work permit on your behalf. Once your request for the work permit is approved, you can then apply for a Taiwan Work Visa at the nearest Taiwan Embassy in your state.

      After you arrive in Taiwan, you need to apply for a Taiwan Residence Permit (Alien Resident Certificate) at a local service centre of the National Immigration Agency within 15-days. It will allow you to stay in the country for longer than 90 days. It is issued for one, two, or three years and can be renewed. You must apply to renew an Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) at least 30 days before the expiry of your current one.

      Important Note: If you are already in Taiwan with a visitor visa (for employment purposes) then, in such a case, you do not need to leave the country to apply for a Taiwan Resident Visa(Taiwan Work Visa). You can apply to change your current visa into a Resident Work Visa at the Bureau of Consular Affairs in Taiwan at least eight days before the expiry of the current visa. After your employer gets your work permit, you can apply for a Taiwan Resident Visa(Taiwan Work Visa). Once the Bureau of Consular Affairs (BOCA) issues your work visa, you need to apply for a Taiwan Residence Permit at a local service centre of the National Immigration Agency within 15 days.

       

      Who is eligible to apply for a Taiwan Work Permit?

      You are eligible to apply for a Taiwan Work Permit only if you are from one of the following professionals.

      • Attorneys
      • Teachers
      • Academic researchers
      • Athletes and coaches
      • Tax and financial services workers
      • Architects
      • Civil engineers
      • Artists and performing artists
      • Healthcare workers
      • Immigration services workers
      • Technicians
      • Transportation workers
      • Specialized and technical workers 
      • Wholesale workers
      • Contract workers
      • Directors or managers of a business established or invested by a foreign national
      • Environmental protection workers
      • Veterinarians
      • Communications workers
      • Culture, sports, and recreation services workers

      Note that if you get a job in one of the fields mentioned above, then your income must not be less than the average monthly income decided by the central competent authority.

       

      Requirements for a Taiwan Work Visa?

      You need the following documents to apply for a Taiwan Work Visa.

      1. Completed Taiwan Work Visa Application Form

      2. Two passport-size photos

      3. Valid passport

      4. Health certificate 

      5. Taiwan Work Permit (Copy and original)

      6. A document that shows your profession

      7. Proof of accommodation in Taiwan

      8. Evidence that shows enough financial means

      Note that all the requirements must be in either English or Chinese.

       

      Cost of a Taiwan Work Visa

      If you are applying for a work visa at a Taiwan Embassy in your native country:

      • For Single-Entry: US$66
      • For Multiple-Entry: US$132

      If you are applying for a work visa in Taiwan:

      • For Single-Entry: NT$2,200
      • For Multiple-Entry: NT$4,400

       

      Cost of a Taiwan Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) 

      It will cost:

      • For one-year duration: NT$1,000
      • For two-year duration: NT$2,000
      • For three-year duration: NT$3,000

      Note that you will be eligible to apply for an Alien Permanent Resident Certificate if you live in Taiwan with an Alien Resident Certificate for at least five years.
