      What is the Netherlands Work Visa?

      If you want to enter the Netherlands for employment purposes, you need to apply for a Netherlands Work Visa. It will allow you to stay in the country for more than 90-days. It is a type of Netherlands Long-stay visa. 

      1. For EU/EEA/Swiss nationals

      If you are an EU/EEA/Swiss national, you do not need a work visa or permit to work and live in the Netherlands. But if the duration of your stay in the Netherlands is more than four months, in that case, you need to register with the personal records database in your local area in the Netherlands and obtain a Citizen Service Number.

      2. For Non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals

      If you are a Non-EU/EEA/Swiss national, you need to apply for the Netherlands Work Visa to enter the state for employment purposes. You also need to obtain a residence permit and work permit, if you want to legally work and live in the Netherlands for longer than 90-days. You may also apply for a Single Permit which includes both the residence and work permit. It is also called a GVVA and can be issued for up to one to three years. But if you are not eligible to apply for the Single Permit, your employer in the Netherlands needs to apply for a separate work permit on your behalf.

       

      Types of Netherlands Work Visa

      There are different types of the Netherlands Work Visa, and each has its specific requirements and conditions.

      1. Regular employee work visa (For employees)

      If you wish to work in the Netherlands as a regular paid employee, you need to apply for this type of Netherlands Work Visa. The following are some of the requirements for a regular employee work visa.

      • An employment contract from a company or employer in the Netherlands
      • Your employer needs to show that the concerned position can not be filled by an EU/EEA/Swiss national.

      2. Seasonal Work Visa

      It is for seasonal workers who wish to enter the Netherlands for seasonal work in the sector of agriculture. It is issued for an up to 24 weeks. The requirements for a seasonal labour visa are:

      • An employment contract from a company or employer in the Netherlands
      • Obtaining a Single Permit 
      • You need to earn a minimum wage.
      • Intra corporate transfer

      3. For highly-skilled workers

      Highly skilled workers are sometimes called “knowledge workers”. You are eligible to apply for this type of visa if you are a highly-skilled migrant. You need to earn a certain amount of income if you are below 30 years old, you need to make a minimum of €3,299, and if you are above 30, the minimum wage is €4,500.

      4. European Blue Card

      It is a work permit which allows a Non-EU national to live and work in any country within any EU country except Denmark, Ireland, and the UK. You also need to meet several conditions to obtain an EU Blue Card.

       

      Who is eligible to apply for a Single Permit (GVVA)?
