What is an Estonia Work Visa?
As you may already know, Estonia is one of the member states of the EU. So, if you are planning to work in Estonia, the first thing you need is to check whether you need to apply for the work visa or not. Usually, it depends on your nationality.
1. For EU/EEA/Swiss nationals
If you are a citizen of the EU/EEA/Swiss state, you can enter, live, work and study in Estonia without a visa. But if you want to work in Estonia for longer than three months, you need to register at the Population Register of Estonia as an Estonian resident within these three months.
2. For Non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals
If you are a citizen of a Non-EU/EEA/Swiss, you need to apply for an Estonia Work Visa (D-visa). It is for short-term employment, and it will allow you to remain in the state for up to 6 months. Before applying for a D-visa, your employer in Estonia needs to register your short-term employment with the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board. In case you want to work in Estonia for longer than six months, you need to apply for a temporary residence permit which will allow you to stay in the country for up to two years. Before applying for the work visa, you must have a job offer in Estonia.
Note that: After living in Estonia for up to five years with a temporary residence permit, you can apply for a long-term residence permit.

You must have the following documents to obtain an Estonia Work Visa.
- A completed Estonia Work Visa application form
- Valid passport or travel document
- Police clearance from the native country
- Proof of enough financial means to support your stay in Estonia, i.e. a bank statement
- Passport size photos
- An insurance policy
- Employment contract
- A job offer from the employer in Estonia
- Proof of accommodation in Estonia
- Biometrical data
- A document that shows your qualification and experience
- Academic documents
- Marital status (If any)
- Payment of the visa fee (About EUR 100)
- Health insurance
