If you are wondering about visiting Suriname, the first thing you need is to check whether you need a visa to visit Suriname or not.

       

      Who does not need a Suriname visa?

      If you are a national of any of the following states, you are allowed to enter Suriname for a specified period without a visa. 

      For up to six months

      • Antigua and Barbuda
      • Argentina
      • Bahamas
      • Barbados
      • Belize
      • Brazil
      • Dominica
      • Grenada
      • Guyana
      • Israel
      • Jamaica
      • Montserrat (Only if you have a British Overseas Territories Citizen passport from Montserrat)

      • Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
      • Trinidad and Tobago

      If you belong to any of the following countries, and you are a holder of a Dutch passport, you also do not need a visa to visit Suriname for a specified period of stay.

      • Sint Eustatius
      • Sint Maarten

      For up to 90 days

      • Hong Kong
      • Japan
      • Russia

      For up to 30 days

      If you are a holder of an official, service, or diplomatic passport issued by one of the following states, you also do not need a visa to visit Suriname for a specified period of stay.

      • Costa Rica (Only holders of diplomatic passport)

      • Haiti

      Note that you need to apply for a visa to visit Suriname if you are not from any visa-exempt states listed above.

       

      How to get a Suriname Tourist Visa?

      If you want to enter the Surname and you are not from any of the Suriname visa-exemption states, you need to apply for a Suriname Tourist Visa. It will allow you to enter the country for a short stay visit, i.e., for tourism. You need to apply for a Suriname visa at the nearest Suriname Embassy in your native country.

       

      Requirements for a Suriname Tourist Visa 

      You need the following documents to obtain a tourist visa for Suriname.

      • Completed Suriname Tourist Visa Application Form
      • Valid passport
      • Passport size photo
      • Your travel itinerary
      • Proof of accommodation in Suriname 
      • Evidence of enough financial means to support your stay in Suriname
      • Health insurance document
      • A cover letter stating the purpose of visit
      • Payment of the visa fee

      It will take nearly 3 to 5 days for visa processing.

       

      Cost of a Suriname Tourist Visa

      The cost of a Suriname visa depends on the duration of stay, but usually, it will cost:

      • For Suriname Tourist visa: USD 45 
      • For Suriname Tourist Card: USD 40

      • Suriname Tourist Visa: Two months 
      • Suriname Tourist Card: 90 days

       

      What is a Suriname Tourist Card?

      Suriname Tourist Card is the same as Suriname Tourist Visa. In the case of Suriname Tourist Card, you have to register for a tourist visa online. However, the only difference between the Tourist Visa and the Tourist Card is the simplification of the process. To get a Suriname Tourist Card, you only need to submit:

      • Copy of the bio page of your passport
      • Your flight itinerary
      • Passport soze photo (3 cm x 4 cm dimensions) 

      After submitting the online visa application, you will receive your Tourist Card in your email within approximately 72 hours. You need to print it out and demonstrate it at the airport along with your passport.
