How to get a Thailand Student Visa?

The Thailand Student Visa is a non-immigration ED (Education) Visa. It is issued to those nationals who want to travel to Thailand for the study. So, you need to apply for a Thailand Student Visa (ED), if you want to study in Thailand.

It will be valid for up to 90 days when you get it for the first time. After you arrive in Thailand with a student visa, you need to get registered and pay your tuition fee for the concerned semester within these 90-days. Once you have a registration confirmation letter, you can apply for a visa extension to the full period.

Before applying for a student visa, you must have an Acceptance Letter from Thailand educational institution. If you are already in Thailand with a 60-day Thailand Tourist Visa when you receive your Acceptance Letter, you can change your visa without leaving the country within the first 30 days of your visa. It will take the other 30 days for Thailand Student Visa (non-immigrant ED visa) processing.

In that case, your Thailand Tourist Visa must be valid for at least 21 days or more. If it is not, you will have to leave Thailand to apply for a student visa from outside the country.

Note that if you arrive in Thailand without any visa, as you may already know citizens of some countries can enter Thailand without a visa. So, you need to leave the country to apply for a Thailand Student Visa (non-immigrant ED visa) from outside the state.
