      How to get a Mexico Student Visa?

      If you want to study in Mexico and your course of study is above 180-days, you need to apply for a Mexico Student Visa. It is a type of Mexican Temporary Resident Visa which allows you to enter and live in the state for study purposes. Before applying for a student visa, you must have an acceptance letter from the concerned educational institution of Mexico.

      If your course of the study course is longer than 180 days, just after you arrive in Mexico, you need to apply for a Temporary Residence Card at an office of the National Immigration Institute in Mexico within 30-days. To get a Temporary Residence Card, you need the following documents.

      • Forma Migratoria Múltiple(FMM) 
      • Payment of the Resident Card
      • Resident Card request form
      • Valid passport 
      • A cover letter for the Temporary Resident Card 
      • Enrollment in the concerned Mexican educational institution

      Note that the Temporary Residence Card is valid for one year, and it can be renewed for the duration of your studies.

       

      Requirements for a Mexico Student Visa

      You must have the following document to obtain a student visa for Mexico.

      1. Completed Mexico Visa Application Form

      2. Valid passport 

      3. Passport-size picture 

      4. A booked flight ticket 

      5. An acceptance letter from your educational institution in Mexico

      6. Bank statement stating enough financial means

      7. Proof of accommodation in Mexico

      8. Evidence of student visa fee payment

      9. Diplomas or transcripts

      The cost of a Mexican student visa varies from country to country. Usually, it is around $36.

       

      Processing time for a Mexico Student Visa

      The processing time for a student visa for Mexico depends on the Mexican embassy. But generally, it will take about one week to a month for visa processing. 

      Note that if your course of study is not longer than 180-days, you can apply for a Visitor Student Visa.

       

      Can you work with a Mexico Student Visa?

      No, you are not allowed to work in the state with a Mexico Student Visa. You must have an approved work permit to perform any employment activity in Mexico.
